Impact

An initiative to attract sustainable tourism

Is it possible to create a model of participatory tourism that redistributes tourist flows, promoting responsible and sustainable development for local initiatives?

Barris Que Molen promotes the economic regeneration of the Sant Andreu district through the promotion of participatory tourism with local impact.

The project, which received funding from Barcelona Activa, identified, provided knowledge, and oversaw the development of new initiatives and circuits of responsible and regenerative tourism that allowed for the redistribution of the "surpluses" of tourists from other central areas of the city of Barcelona.

Its objective was to enhance the positive impact of local economic development in Sant Andreu.

The local initiatives of the Sant Andreu district presented the Route for Regenerative Commerce of Sant Andreu of responsible and regenerative tourism as the final proposal of the Barris Que Molen project. The route includes 7 businesses that have incorporated sustainability into their activities.

The action plan was:

  1. Discover the potential of sustainable tourism: Understand the possibilities that sustainable tourism could offer in the Sant Andreu district. In the Barris Que Molen training, we discovered innovative methodologies for promoting sustainable, attractive, and innovative destinations.

  2. Drive the tourism of the future: Participation in a workshop led by experts in sustainable tourism innovation through the Pentagrowth - CARE methodology to create or reformulate tourism projects.

  3. Make your project a reality: For two months, we promoted and followed up on three projects that have a direct positive impact on the tourism development of the district.
