Impact

Innovation and regeneration in tourism through transformative projects.

How can tourism contribute to the social, economic and natural development of a territory?

FiturNext is the Observatory of sustainable good practices of FITUR that analyzes tourism initiatives that have a positive impact on the destination, people, and the planet.

Each year the Observatory launches a challenge dedicated to how tourism can help improve the industry following the SDGs and the sector's challenges. In each edition, an open call is made for any initiative contributing to the challenge to apply. Once analyzed using impact and replicability barometers developed by Ideas for Change.

The Replicability Barometer assesses the possibilities of the initiative being adapted and replicated in different contexts, resources, and actors. On the other hand, the Impact Barometer analyzes the potential of the initiatives by measuring the degree of participation in the project, the prior work done, and the impact on the environment where it operates, among other aspects. Finally, for the final solution, the conclusions of the Advisory Council of FiturNext are considered, which provides external international assessment.

Once this process is completed, three winning initiatives and nine finalists are announced that will be represented in the FiturNext stand throughout FITUR through talks and presence in the four-day program conducted by the Observatory.

All information, resources, and good practices of the initiatives and the analysis carried out are collected in a report developed by the FiturNext team during each edition available to everyone interested in understanding the process.

In particular, the editions of FiturNext have focused on:

-How can tourism contribute to the economic development of the destination? 2020

-How can tourism contribute to gender equality? Challenge 2021

-How can tourism contribute to a more accessible society? Challenge 2022

-How can tourism contribute to the regeneration of the natural environment? Challenge 2023

-How can tourism contribute to territorial revitalization? Challenge 2024

-How can tourism contribute to the sustainable management of food? Challenge 2025
