Our story
Collaborative emergency
Ideas for Change (IFC) was founded by Javi Creus, with the aim of establishing itself as an independent strategy consultancy. The early steps of IFC are focused on new forms of consulting, based on a decentralized, open, and collaborative organization, with a vision shaped by social crises and designed for mobile communications. During these early days, IFC actively participates in the creation and development of OKFN and Ouishare in Spain.
Citizen capabilities
In 2013, the “Bristol Approach” was established, activating the first use cases of this reference methodology for designing and developing citizen participation initiatives that result in a common good. The case of Plaza del Sol in Barcelona, with the Making Sense project, where noise measurements taken by residents managed to influence the urban layout, organization of cleaning, signage, and sensorization of the square, was one of the first demonstrations of citizen capabilities.
A new vision of business models, civic engagement, and tourism
In 2014, IFC launched the “Pentagrowth Report” on exponential growth, expanding its consultancy on disruptive business models. Additionally, it participates in European citizen science projects, focusing on tourism, sustainability, and mental health. With the motto “Destinations That Rock” and the Pentagrowth + CARE methodology, it also promotes regenerative, sustainable, and accessible tourism.
Regenerative and responsible tourism
Under the slogan "Destinations That Rock" and through the design of the Pentagrowth + CARE methodology, the team also begins a new line of work: tourism. Ideas for Change contributes to improving the tourism landscape by researching, analysing, and coordinating projects on regenerative, sustainable, and accessible tourism.
From today onwards: The challenge of systemic change
And now, what? Today we are exploring the connections between systems: water, energy, and food. Working on projects related to innovation and cultural heritage, urban reforestation, building renovation, and citizen measurement of the electromagnetic waves generated by mobile networks. Creating narratives and communication strategies that promote a better future for everyone. Moreover, we are investigating the power of citizen data with new institutions of "data altruism" and researching the internet of the future to make it more accessible and inclusive for all. Here ends our story today, would you like to join us in tomorrow's?
