‘Renew or die’. The saying goes and it has been more than evident during the covid-19 crisis. The pandemic has shown how quickly reality can change and has revealed the need to reinvent oneself, both as a person and in the world of work. Business models have been transformed because, in this situation, you either adapt or you get left behind. Innovation is key to achieving this and a clear example of this search for disruptive alternatives is Joaquín Romero's project.

Joaquín is the co-founder of COliving Hotels and a former student of the masterclass offered by Pentagrowth Academy at the beginning of the confinement. He was one of the people who delved into the methodology of the five levers of growth to create #FuturosQueMolan together with the Pentagrowth team. His initiative is based on a new hotel offer full of creativity, knowledge and experience with a transformative energy.

COliving Hotels offers hotel rooms, grouped together on a single digital platform, where you can live for a period of time on a co-living basis and at an affordable price. This innovative accommodation formula allows people who have a common goal, whether professional or personal, to share their homes. They can be groups of entrepreneurs looking to create synergies between their projects and at the same time live in a community or students who want to meet people and get to know new experiences. The key is to share a vital and motivating space. This way of living together not only benefits people, but also the planet because environmental costs are reduced by sharing resources.

Thus, in COliving Hotels, your home is your office, your social and entertainment space, as residents can enjoy all the community amenities while living and sharing with other people. Users not only find a place to sleep, but also a place to live on a monthly rental basis.

Joaquín explains that the project is a ‘solution to reinvent the hotel industry of tomorrow that contributes to global socio-economic recovery in a more inclusive and sustainable way’. The idea was born from the premise of providing a creative use for empty hotel rooms during periods of low occupancy and from the need to offer temporary and flexible accommodation to ‘digital nomads’ who live and telework from anywhere in the world. The boom in teleworking provides a ‘prodigious combination for COliving Hotels to become a market standard for booking medium and long-term hotel stays for temporary residents’.
